JASMINE LIM SMITH
Currently based in the United States, she’s on her academic journey, pursuing a degree in Information Technology. Yet, her heart is drawn to the depths of the ocean. It all began with her deep-seated love for scuba diving, sparked at the age of 10 in Langkawi, a passion that intensified soon after during her first wreck dive in Thailand. Over the course of 11 years, she diligently worked her way up, achieving certifications up to Assistant Instructor and various technical accolades. Her journey continues as she strives for full instructor qualification and dreams of earning her full cave certification.
Apart from her underwater adventures, she also dedicates her time to Reef Check Malaysia, a nonprofit organization devoted to coral reef monitoring, management, research, conservation, and advocacy. Annually, they voyage to various Malaysian islands to assess the condition of coral reefs, showcasing her commitment to preserving these vital ecosystems.
Beyond the depths of the ocean, she’s equally passionate about coding. Though her future may hold opportunities to combine her love for scuba diving and coding, the path ahead remains uncharted for now, but exciting nevertheless!
